Whether you read the bible on a daily basis or have not read it in years I want to make a suggestion if you will allow me to. I wanted to write to you about studying the bible as when I started at age twelve I read it in huge chunks. Chunks like half of one book a day. That was too much then and it is too much now.

Let me tell you why I write this. I have doubts, at times, that creep up due to things I hear on the TV or in conversation. I think that this might be natural if one is as curious as I. I love hearing differing opinions but if I have doubts I go seeking more information. This is where the bible comes in for me as reading small sections at a time over a long period allows things that would have been forgotten to be reinforced. In this way I have been reading “Luke” in the New Testament for well over a month of late.

I am impressed by what Luke tells us about Jesus and how He worked His miracles and also how He dealt with people. His conversations with people tells you a lot about the validity of the bible. This is why I picked the bible up and changed the way I read it now; a little at a time as this method reinforces before you forget what you have previously read. If the bible is allowed to flow it is a new beginning in understanding and a lack of understanding leaves one open to doubts. Doubt is natural and should always be considered as we are but human. Jesus was not human but came to us in human form. Miracles are miracles and understanding how they occur is not for us to fully understand. This is the misery and the beauty of Christian thought all the while living in a world full to the brim of unbelievers. The bible is a singular effort that all of us should make a major portion of our lives.
