Bought a Mac

by abcro · April 22, 2025

For the first few years we had a computer it was a Mac. A Power Mac with a blazing few MB’s of memory. I guess that was in the late 90s; or last century if you’re keeping count. After not too long I changed to DOS and Microsoft and I believe, if memory serves, Windows fiver or six or maybe seven. Time flies but the memory does not.

I have a number of mini computers now, all Windows and an old iMac I used for photography. The iMac is 2014 so it was time. Apple Mail refused to wrok without freezing the entire computer so I took the plunge and bought a MiniMac or Mac Mini if you’re fussy about nomenclature and I love the new one. I bought a dock for it as the Mac uses USB-C plugs and mine are all the old style (Just like me). The dock alleviviated the obvious problem. What a kick as I had not followed Apple in a while, since Steve Jobs passed away.

I have yet to try working with servers on the Mac so I have to educate myself before I begin. In the meantime I find myself treating it like a piece of jewelry and I find that to be silly. There are major differences on the approach of logging in or placing code on a server between Windows and Apple. In time I will get myself up to. speed on all this.

This is my first post which comes directly from the Mac so I thought you might like to know the switch I have made. I have also joined Substack and I will get that going before I place the link here. It is all new to me which gives gettng up in years more purpose. Does that make any sense to you? See you in the morning tomorrow.
